Overview

What the project is about

Despite the obvious benefits Cohesion brings for Cyprus, citizens seem to be unaware of the impact the policy has on their everyday lives. According to the findings of the 2023 Eurobarometer 531 only 35% of the Cypriots knew at least one project in their area that was funded by EU funds. Our objective is to help citizens associate themselves with Cohesion Policy and help them to be actively involved in the debate about the future of the Policy.

Our project builds on the positive experience gained by the project "Cohesion is us": We maintain our partnership, composed of 3 national media (TV, Radio and online news), a company specialised on EU information campaigns and a Foundation with strong links to the local authorities and the society and we are now adding more content and more interaction with our audiences, aiming not just to inform, but to mobilise citizens and stakeholders for actively discussing the future of the Cohesion policy.

We designed a project with two main components: information to help citizens understand Cohesion and its impact on their everyday lives (media news, websites, podcasts, publications) and engagement to help citizens and stakeholders express their views and ideas for the future of the Cohesion policy (seminars, interactive events, contests, public consultations).

During the 12 months of implementation, we will provide sustained coverage to Cohesion with dedicated slots at mainstream TV and radio shows and in one of the most prominent news webpages. We will offer news reportages and articles (TV, radio, online), podcasts, multimedia stories, 1 modular movie on Cohesion, seminars for professors and teachers, online consultations, blog posts, contests, extensive social media exposure and an event that
will connect Europe day with Cohesion.
